A preposterous claim by Hindus....if Hindus were forcibly converted to Islam in Kashmir, then what about India as a whole....I mean Muslims ruled India for more than 1200 years. If Muslims like Akbar, Jehangir or Shahejahan wouldn't have been extremely secular then all of India would have been predominantly Muslim and not just 20% Muslim. No Monarchs in the history of India have ever been as secular as Muslim rulers.
In Kashmir, no Muslim army invaded to convert Kashmiris and it was due to the preachings of the sufi saints like SHAH-E-HAMADAN and Great Pandit converts like Sheikh-ul-Alam( A Kashmiri Pandit with Raina as his surname)that very learned Kashmiri Pandits who had a thorough knowledge of Hinduism decided to convert to Islam. These highly learned Kashmiri Pandits and religious scholars were convinced that Islam truly is a great religion and therefore the most learned men of high caste Hindus should be the first to accept Islam. The same thing happened in Afghanistan and NWFP(Pakistan).
On a funnier note....do you seriously think that the ferocious Afghans/Pathans would convert to Islam forcibly....they would give away their lives than convert to any religion by force....HA HA HA.
On a gloomier note....the Dogra Kings with the help of their Kashmiri Pandit brothers tried their level best to force Kashmiri Muslims to accept Hinduism. They made Kashmiris suffer through draconian laws like Begaari(BONDED LABOUR), feudalism(which was controlled by our Pandit brothers as they were the land owners) High interest rates on money lending (again controlled by our Pandit brothers), Barring Muslims from educational pursuits and the most serious of all......Not letting Kashmiri Muslims practice their faith freely.....Laws were enacted which forbade Kashmiri Muslims to eat fish and anyone caught catching fish was severely punished. All these laws including the provision of not slaughtering buffaloes/cows were completely in favour of a Hindutva dominated policies.
Kashmiri Pandits through their blind faith of Hindutva and an insurmountable hatred of Kashmiri Muslims created such policies that even today Kashmiri Muslims are suffering.
I would advise our Kashmir Pandit brothers not to open a Pandoras box which would do nothing but open up the deep wounds of Kashmiri Muslims.
Kashmiri Muslims have over many centuries suffered phenomenally at the hands of our Kashmiri Pandit brethren but we don't go about preaching hatred against them and yet Kashmiri Pandits never loose a chance of spewing venom against us.

Rulers like Akbar,Jehangir,Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb all had a tax system known as jizya.It meant non Muslims had to pay a lot more taxes and live in poverty and suffer hardships.The Muslims on the other hand were exempted from paying these taxes.
